Named after Niemegk, a small town in the Fläming in Brandenburg.
The town’s name is often traced to Nijmegen in the Netherlands, known around 1100 as ‘Niumago’, though this is not certain. It may also be the Slavic word for Germans, used for a place where Germans settled among Slavs. The street was named in 1983.
