Olympiastadion

Westend

Named after the Olympiastadion, built in 1934–1936 for the Olympic Games.

The station opened in May 1909 as ‘Rennbahn’ for the new Grunewald racecourse, inside which the Deutsches Stadion was built in 1913. It became ‘Stadion – Rennbahn Grunewald’ in 1930 and ‘Reichssportfeld’ in 1935, after the racecourse had made way for the Olympic grounds. The Deutsche Reichsbahn renamed it Olympiastadion in 1960.
