Named after Podbielskiallee, which honours Victor von Podbielski (1844–1916).
Podbielski was a Prussian lieutenant general who was put in charge of the Reich Post Office in 1897 and became Prussian minister of agriculture in 1901. The avenue was laid out in 1901/1902 as one of the first streets on the divided Domäne Dahlem estate and named in 1905. Above the station entrance the name is written in Fraktur (blackletter) script.
