Breitenbachplatz

Dahlem

Named after Breitenbachplatz, which honours the Prussian minister Paul von Breitenbach.

Paul von Breitenbach (1850–1930) was Prussian Minister of Public Works, in charge of the state railways, and played a major part in building this line. The square, called Rastatter Platz from 1892, was renamed after him when the U-Bahn to Dahlem opened in 1913; he attended the opening. Since 1988, paintings by Joachim Szymczak in the station have shown him and the Prussian railways.
