Named after Rüdesheimer Platz, the heart of the Rheingau quarter.
The square, named in 1909, takes its name from the adjoining Rüdesheimer Straße, which honours Rüdesheim am Rhein; many streets of this ‘Rheingau quarter’ are named after wine towns along the Rhine. Since 1967 a summer wine stand on the square has served wine from the Rheingau. Architect Wilhelm Leitgebel decorated the station, opened in 1913, with vine motifs.
