Named after Rhinstraße, which recalls the river Rhin, and Gärtnerstraße.
The Rhin is a 129 km tributary of the Havel in Brandenburg; its name is widely thought to come from 12th-century settlers from the Lower Rhine. The northern extension of Rhinstraße got its name in 1975. Gärtnerstraße (‘gardeners’ street’) was named after its original position behind the gardens of the Hauptstraße; at first it was called Gartenstraße.
