Named after Rhinstraße, which recalls the river Rhin, and Plauener Straße.
The Rhin is a 129 km tributary of the Havel in Brandenburg; its name is widely thought to come from 12th-century settlers from the Lower Rhine. Plauener Straße was named in 1927 after Plauen, a town in Saxony. At first it ran only as far as Dingelstädter Straße; it was extended northwards in the 1980s.
