Named after Schwartzkopffstraße, which honours the industrialist Louis Schwartzkopff.
Louis Schwartzkopff (1825–1892) founded the engineering works on Chausseestraße that became the Berliner Maschinenbau AG, which built locomotives. The street was named after him in 1889, during his lifetime. The station was renamed Walter-Ulbricht-Stadion in 1951 and, as a ‘ghost station’ behind the Wall, Stadion der Weltjugend in 1973 – a name that only the guards and passing passengers from West Berlin could read. Since 1991 it has had its old name back.
