Named after Siemensdamm, which honours Werner von Siemens.
Werner von Siemens (1816–1892) co-founded Siemens & Halske in Berlin in 1847. In 1897 the company bought land here for new works, and in 1914 the area was named Siemensstadt; Siemensdamm was built from 1913 with the firm’s financial help. The station honours Siemens, whose proposal of 1880 started the Berlin U-Bahn and whose firm built its first line: round murals show his achievements, and the lettering follows the 1936 Siemens logo.
