All Saints

Tower Hamlets

Named after All Saints Church, the parish church of Poplar.

In 1817 Parliament made Poplar a parish in its own right, and All Saints was built between 1821 and 1823 to serve it, on land – a house, garden and field – owned by Mrs Ann Newby. The DLR station stands on the site of Poplar (East India Road), a North London Railway station opened in 1866.
