Named after Langdon Park, which may honour Father C. G. Langdon, a Poplar vicar.
Langdon was vicar of St Michael's church in the 1920s. One account says he took part in the Poplar Rate Rebellion; the London Gardens Trust says only that he may have. The park, on the site of the houses of Cobden Street and Woodin Street, was created in stages from the late 1950s. When the station was first proposed, in 1983, it was to be called Carmen Street, after a nearby road.
