Named after a stretch of the Thames, recalling the Galyon family.
The Galyons owned property along this stretch of the river in the 14th century. Places on both banks now carry the name, including streets, Gallions Hill and Gallions Reach Park. An earlier station called Gallions was the end of a railway branch from 1880 to 1940.
