Honor Oak Park

Lewisham

Named after the Oak of Honor on One Tree Hill.

Legend says that on 1 May 1602 Elizabeth I picnicked with Sir Richard Bulkeley by an oak at the top of the hill, and the tree came to be known as the Oak of Honor. The oak there now was planted in 1905 as its successor. The station opened in 1886, named to tell it apart from the Honor Oak station of the time.
