Moor Park

Hertfordshire

Named after Moor Park, a Palladian mansion in the old park of The More.

The More was a 16th-century palace once owned by Cardinal Wolsey; the origin of its name is uncertain, but probably moorland. After it fell into ruin, a new house was built in its deer park around 1617. The station opened in 1910 as Sandy Lodge, after a golf course, became Moor Park & Sandy Lodge in 1923 and Moor Park in 1950.
