Southfields

Wandsworth

Named after the South Field of the manor of Dunsford, south of Putney.

The name comes from the old manorial system and goes back at least to 1247. The matching North Field lay between West Hill and the Thames and survives in a short road called Northfields. The south fields stayed open land until about 1900. During the Wimbledon tennis championships, this is the station for the courts.
