Jean Engling (1801–1888), priest and scholar.
Born in Christnach, he taught philosophy and theology at the Athénée from 1841 to 1869, and at the seminary from 1845. He presided over the Archaeological Society in 1853–1876 and 1885–1888; in 1868 it became the historical section of the Grand-Ducal Institute. Living frugally, he gave what he saved to the poor. A street in Dommeldange bears his name.
