Named after Georges Clemenceau (1841–1929), French statesman.
A doctor turned journalist, ‘the Tiger’ was France’s prime minister in 1906–1909 and again in 1917–1920, through the end of the First World War and the Treaty of Versailles. He also campaigned for Alfred Dreyfus. In Gasperich, Rue Clemenceau meets Rue Aristide Briand, named in 1933 after another French statesman.
