Abbé François Lascombes (1921–1991), historian of his home city.
Born in Luxembourg City, he was forcibly conscripted into the Wehrmacht in the Second World War and badly wounded in Poland. Ordained in 1951, he was parish priest of Kautenbach from 1963 to 1983. Though weakened by the war and blind in his left eye from the 1970s, he wrote a three-volume 'Chronik der Stadt Luxemburg' (1968–1988) and helped set up the city history museum.
