Simone de Beauvoir (1908–1986), philosopher and writer.
The French writer won the Prix Goncourt in 1954 for her novel 'The Mandarins'. Her essay 'The Second Sex' (1949), a detailed analysis of women's oppression, became a foundational text of modern feminism; it contains her famous line 'One is not born, but rather becomes, woman'. We have not yet found out when this Kirchberg street was named after her.
