'Um Gruef' means at the ditch.
'Gruef' is Luxembourgish for a ditch or trench. The same name is used in Luxembourg City's old town, where the rue du Fossé is called 'um Gruef' in Luxembourgish. We have not yet found out which ditch gave this place in Steinsel its name.
