'Gonneschhaff' means the Gonner farm.
The Teutonic Knights built a farm here in the 13th century. From 1540 it was farmed by the Gunder family, later called Gonner, and the name 'Gonneschhaff' has been used since 1586. The order kept the farm until the French Revolution, when it was taken over by the state and sold at auction in 1796.
