Named after 135th Street, at St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem.
135th Street is one of the fifteen crosstown streets that the Commissioners’ Plan of 1811 made 100 feet wide, instead of the usual 60 feet. The station lies where it meets St. Nicholas Avenue, between Harlem and Hamilton Heights.
