Named after East 167th Street, one of the Bronx streets numbered on from Manhattan.
Much of the West Bronx’s street numbering carries over from upper Manhattan, but it does not match it exactly; the lowest numbered street in the Bronx is East 132nd Street. The ‘East’ in the name shows that this part of 167th Street lies east of Jerome Avenue, the Bronx’s dividing line.
