Wakefield's numbered streets do not line up with those on the other side of the borough: at the same diagonal latitude, West 262nd Street in Riverdale matches East 237th Street in Wakefield. The misalignment comes from the layout of Tremont Avenue. The ‘East’ marks a street lying east of Jerome Avenue.
