Recalls Lowery Street, as 40th Street was called until the 1930s.
Whom the street honoured is not stated in the sources we read, but a Lowery family was among the farming families south of Jackson Avenue whose land was subdivided in the 1880s and 1890s; a small hamlet there came to be known as Sunnyside. Since a City Council law of July 2003, the street officially carries both its number and its old name.
