Named after 50th Street, one of the numbered streets crossing Borough Park.
Here the street meets 12th Avenue and New Utrecht Avenue in Borough Park, which by the 1920s had absorbed the older community of Blythebourne. Farther west, in Sunset Park, the same street gives its name to the Sunset Park 50th Street Historic District, a set of 50 row houses between Fourth and Fifth Avenues.
