Before the 1910s this spot was known as Bath Junction.
Here, at 62nd Street and New Utrecht Avenue, two railways met at street level: the New York & Sea Beach Railway and the Brooklyn, Bath & Coney Island Railroad. The Sea Beach company called its station Bath Junction, the Bath company Sea Beach Junction, until they settled on one name. It was dropped when both lines were rebuilt for rapid transit.
