Named after Brooklyn Borough Hall, built as the City of Brooklyn’s city hall.
The Greek Revival building was completed in 1848 as City Hall of the then independent City of Brooklyn, on land donated by the Remsen and Pierrepont families. In January 1898 Brooklyn merged with the City of New York, Kings County became the Borough of Brooklyn, and City Hall became Borough Hall.
