Named after Charles Hoyt, a developer who bought land here in 1833.
Charles Hoyt and Russell Nevins, Manhattan developers with large interests in Brooklyn, bought land in today’s Boerum Hill in 1833, and both had streets named after them, says the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Forgotten New York speaks of the Hoyt and Nevins families. The station has been signed Hoyt Street–Bridge Street and Hoyt Street–Fulton Mall.
