Named for the junction at Broadway, a crossroads of rail lines.
The site lies on the historical Jamaica Pass, the junction of today’s Broadway, Fulton Street and Jamaica Avenue, and has long been a meeting point of rail lines. The first station opened in 1885 as Manhattan Junction, in an area known as Manhattan Beach Crossing, after a crossing of the Long Island Rail Road. The names of the complex’s stations were unified as Broadway Junction in 2003.
