Named after Robert Fulton, the steamboat pioneer.
Robert Fulton (1765–1815) is widely credited with developing the first commercially successful steamboat. With his steam ferries he linked this street to the Fulton Street of the same name in Manhattan. Since 2005, most of Brooklyn's Fulton Street has also been co-named Harriet Ross Tubman Avenue, after the formerly enslaved abolitionist.
