World Trade Center

Financial District, Tribeca, Manhattan

Named after the World Trade Center, built on the site of Hudson Terminal.

The station was first named Hudson Terminal, after the nearby terminal of the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad, today’s PATH. To help stimulate urban renewal in Lower Manhattan, the Port Authority built the World Trade Center on that site; when it was completed in 1973, the station was renamed. The original complex was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001.
