Argentine

Paris 16e, 17e

Named after the rue d'Argentine, a thank-you to Argentina.

The station opened in 1900 as Obligado, after a street recalling a French and British victory over Argentina in 1845. After Eva Perón's visit in 1947, street and station were renamed to thank Argentina for the food it sent to France after the war. For the 2022 World Cup final between the two countries, the RATP briefly renamed it France.
