Named after the rue de Buzenval, which recalls the Battle of Buzenval.
On 19 January 1871, during the siege of Paris, the troops besieged in the city tried to break out towards Versailles, where Wilhelm I, proclaimed emperor the day before, had his headquarters. The ill-prepared sortie, fought at Rueil-Malmaison, Garches and Saint-Cloud, failed. Part of the rue des Vignoles and the passage Papier were named rue de Buzenval in 1878.
