Named after the avenue Félix-Faure, which honours Félix Faure (1841–1899).
A tanner turned rich leather merchant, he entered politics in Le Havre and was president of the Republic from 1895 until his sudden death at the Élysée in 1899; Zola addressed 'J'accuse…!' to him. The avenue was the rue Herr, after a surveyor who drew the plans of Grenelle, until 1900. The station was the first of four named after a former president.
