Named after the avenue de Laumière, which honours General Clément Vernhet de Laumière (1812–1863).
Born in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, he commanded the artillery of the expedition to Mexico and died after being shot in the head at the siege of Puebla in 1863. According to the historian Gustave Pessard, the city grouped several street names recalling the Mexican expedition in this quarter, such as a rue de Puebla and a rue de Mexico.
