Named after the socialist leader Jean Jaurès (1859–1914), the day after his assassination.
The station opened in 1903 as Rue d'Allemagne, after the old road to Germany. Jaurès, who had tried to prevent the war, was shot on 31 July 1914; the station was renamed on 1 August, days before Germany declared war on France.
