Les Halles

Paris 1er

Named after Les Halles, the central food market of Paris for centuries.

When the station opened in 1908 it lay between the market's pavilions. The market moved out to Rungis in 1969, and the area was rebuilt with the Forum des Halles. The present station opened in 1977, on a new section of tunnel.
