Named after Louise Michel (1830–1905), the schoolteacher and heroine of the Paris Commune.
The station opened in 1937 as Vallier, after a carpenter who helped build the first houses of Levallois. In 1946 street and station were renamed after Louise Michel, known as the 'Red Virgin', who also wrote novels and memoirs.
