Named after the rue de Lourmel, which honours General Frédéric Henri Le Normand de Lourmel (1811–1854).
Born in Pontivy, he distinguished himself in the conquest of Algeria and in 1852 became aide-de-camp to Napoleon III, then Prince-President. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Inkerman, in the Crimean War, and died on 7 November 1854. The Paris street was formed in 1865 from part of the rue de Grenelle and the chemin des Marais.
