Marcadet – Poissonniers

Paris 18e

Named after the rue Marcadet and the rue des Poissonniers.

'Marcadet' comes from a place called la Mercade, after a market (marcadus) held there at the time of the Lendit fair. The rue des Poissonniers was the fishmongers' road, by which fish was brought to Paris. Two separate stations were joined in 1931 under this name.
