Named after the place Maubert and the Maison de la Mutualité.
'Maubert' may be a corruption of Aubert, an abbot of Sainte-Geneviève who set up butchers' stalls here in the 12th century, or of Albert the Great (Maître Albert), the medieval scholar. The Mutualité is a conference hall built for the mutual insurance movement.
