Réaumur – Sébastopol

Paris 2e, 3e

Named after the rue Réaumur and the boulevard de Sébastopol.

The street honours René-Antoine de Réaumur (1683–1757), physicist and naturalist. The boulevard recalls the siege of Sebastopol in Crimea (1854–1855), when British and French troops took the Russian naval port. The station opened in 1904 as Rue Saint-Denis and got its present name in 1907.
