Richelieu – Drouot

Paris 2e, 9e

Named after the rue de Richelieu and the rue Drouot.

The rue de Richelieu, ordered in 1633 and first called rue Royale, soon took the name of Cardinal Richelieu (1585–1642), chief minister of Louis XIII, who was then enlarging his Palais-Cardinal, today's Palais-Royal; from 1793 to 1806 it was the rue de la Loi. The rue Drouot has honoured General Antoine Drouot (1774–1847), an artillery general of the Empire, since 1847.
