Named after the town of Saint-Denis and the Pleyel district, after the piano maker Ignace Pleyel.
Ignace Pleyel (1757–1831), an Austrian-born composer, founded his piano firm in Paris in 1807; in 1865 the company built a large factory in Saint-Denis, which gave the Pleyel district its name. The name was confirmed by a public vote in 2022, against Carrefour Pleyel and Ignace Pleyel. The station opened in 2024 as the northern end of line 14.
