Named after Alfred Adler, the Viennese doctor who founded individual psychology.
The street was named on 2 June 2009. Alfred Adler (1870–1937) was a Viennese doctor who joined Sigmund Freud's discussion circle but broke with him in 1911 and founded his own ‘individual psychology’. He set up child guidance centres in Vienna, moved to the USA in 1934 and died in Aberdeen after a series of lectures there.
