Named after Kendlerstraße, which honours a castle owner of Breitensee.
The street was named in 1875 after Karl Edler von Kendler (1777–1859), who owned the castle (‘Schloss’) in Breitensee. Before that the street was called Ottakringer Bezirksstraße.
