Named after Neulaa (‘New Laa’), the residential area south of the station.
Neulaa grew up west of the old village of Oberlaa, around a small row of houses on Himberger Straße, and was built up loosely during the 20th century. The name already appears on plans from the early 20th century, but it became widely known at the latest when the U-Bahn station opened in 2017.
