Named after Josef Ressel, a forester and inventor.
Josef Ressel (1793–1857) was a forester in state service and a tireless inventor with ten patents; in 1827 he was granted one for a ship’s propeller. Abroad, others exploited his inventions without mentioning him. The lane, laid out in 1860, was named after him in 1862.
