Alt-Mariendorf

Named after Alt-Mariendorf, the old village street of Mariendorf.

Mariendorf was founded probably around 1230 by the Knights Templar, as a daughter village of their commandery at Tempelhof. It is first recorded in 1348 as ‘Mergendorp’. Its former village street, now a busy main road, was given the name Alt-Mariendorf (‘Old Mariendorf’) in 1949.
